Dear Parents and Carers,
We’ve certainly experienced a very hot week, and we want to say a big thank you for your continued support in helping to keep children cool, comfortable and ready to learn.
Thank you to parents and grandparents who attended the Year 6 transition workshop with Poppy. Please find at the bottom of the newsletter some helpful information and strategies to support your child with transition.
A reminder that on Monday, as part of the Fierte Festival, all children and staff are invited to dress as a word linked to creativity and display their chosen word on a card, badge or sticker etc. We are encouraging everyone to be as inventive as possible, with ideas such as flamboyant, dazzling, radiant, shimmering, unique or sparkling. We look forward to seeing a fantastic range of creative ideas shared across the school!
To kick off our Fierté Festival, we are excited to be holding a whole-school Danceathon!
Children from across the school will be taking part in a day full of dancing. Our Year 6 House Captains have chosen to make this event even more meaningful by raising money for two wonderful causes: Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Birmingham Dog's Home.
Donation buckets will be available at the school gate, so if you are able, please bring along some loose change to support this fantastic initiative. Thank you, as always, for your continued support, we can’t wait to get dancing!
On Friday 3rd July, from 9–9.30, we would love to invite you into the classroom to have a look at the wonderful work the children have produced this week. It will be lovely to share their achievements with you. We look forward to welcoming you into school.
New Classes
We are pleased to share the new classes for next year:

New classes have already been shared with Year 5, with the new teachers being:
- Shakespeare: Miss Paskin
- Sachar: Mrs Lomas (Monday – Wednesday) Mrs Page (Thursday – Friday)
- Tolkien: Mr Bartholomew
Transition Days
On Wednesday 1st July and Thursday 2nd July, all children will spend time in their new classes as part of our transition days. This is an exciting opportunity for them to get to know their new teacher and become familiar with their new classroom environment.
On arrival at school, children should go straight to their new classroom, where they will be welcomed by their new teacher. At the end of the day, children will also be dismissed from their new classroom.
Children will be shown the locations of their new classrooms in advance, and there will be staff available to help direct them if needed.
Snack Update
We will be reducing our snack offer from September 2026, as we are required to follow new guidance which directs schools to reduce the amount of sugars within their catering. We have already anticipated the changes in our new menus, but snacks have been identified as an area where we must change. Therefore, across all settings, children will only be able to purchase toast, green apples or a banana. The cost of a snack will remain at 35p. Arbor will be amended to reflect these changes.
Sunflower Competition
The deadline for the sunflower competition is fast approaching! With all the recent warm weather, we’re really looking forward to seeing how tall your sunflowers have grown. Prizes will be awarded on Friday 10th July.
Here’s a reminder of how to enter:
