Dear Parents and Carers
Our values of PRIDE
This week, we’ve been exploring the value of RESPECT with the children. Through stories, discussions, and classroom activities, we’ve talked about the importance of treating others the way we would like to be treated.
We’ve also reflected on how our actions and words can have both positive and negative effects on those around us. The children have shared thoughtful ideas and shown great understanding of how respect helps build a kind and caring school community.
Let’s continue to encourage respectful behaviour at home and in school — together we can make a big difference!
We need your help - catering budget
We need your help! As you may know, our school catering budget—provided by the Department for Education—is determined by the number of children who have a school meal on Census Day, which this year falls on Thursday 2nd October.
The government assumes that any child who has a meal on Census Day will continue to do so throughout the year. At Heathfields, we proudly offer flexibility by allowing children to bring packed lunches, but this means our meal numbers can fluctuate—and so can our funding.
To ensure we receive the maximum budget to support our catering services, we kindly ask all families to book a school meal for their child on Census Day. We’ve selected one of our most popular menus to tempt even the pickiest eaters!
If you're concerned your child may not eat the meal, please still book it. You’re welcome to send them in with a packed lunch as well—they can try the school meal or pudding alongside their usual lunch. Every booked meal counts toward our funding!
School council
This week, our Year 1 and Year 2 children took part in a very exciting event — voting for their class councillors! It was wonderful to see them engaging in the democratic process, sharing ideas, and supporting one another.
We are delighted to announce our newly elected School Councillors:
Year 1:
Ahlberg: Martha and Ezra
Jeffers: Lewis and Millie
Murphy: Jacqueline and Harry
Year 2:
Ross: Louie and Rosie
Child: Myah and Teddy
Grey: Noah and Eliza
Congratulations to our new representatives! We look forward to seeing them bring their classmates’ voices to life and help make our school an even better place.
Staffing update
We are delighted to share with you that Miss Ricketts has had her baby, she welcomed a little girl last Wednesday. She has been named; Tilly Star. Both Mum and daughter are doing extremely well!
Health and Safety
We kindly remind all families that scooters and bikes must not be ridden once inside the school gates. For the safety of all children, staff, and visitors, we ask that students walk their bikes and scooters from the gate to the bike racks or designated areas.
This helps prevent accidents and ensures a calm, safe environment during busy drop-off and pick-up times.
Thank you for your support in keeping our school grounds safe and respectful for everyone.
Story time
A gentle reminder to make time for Story Time — a special moment to connect, imagine, and grow together.
We encourage you to listen to a story with your child and then share a story of your own. Whether it’s a favourite book, a family memory, or a tale from your own childhood, storytelling helps build language, creativity, and strong bonds.
Let’s keep the joy of stories alive — one page, one moment, one memory at a time. Come and share a story with child on the following days;
Monday 29th September - Mckee Class @ 2.45pm
