Wilnecote Weekly Update - 3rd October 2025

{item_alt_tag}

Staffing Update

We’re delighted to share that Mrs Towle is expecting her second child at Easter. Recruitment for her position will begin after Christmas, and we’ll keep Class Lewis families informed of any changes.

School Photo Day – Thursday 9th October
Individual pupil photographs will be taken during the school day.
Sibling Photos:

  • Pupils with siblings at the same school will have their sibling photo taken during the day.
  • Families with siblings at Heathfields are invited to arrive at 8:30am for their sibling photo.

Year 3 Science Request

Next week, Year 3 will be learning about nutrition in science. We would be grateful if children could bring in clean food packaging to support this learning. Please ensure the packaging does not contain nuts or oranges, due to allergy concerns.

Sandpit News

The children are loving their new sandpit! A huge thank you to all the families who supported the PTFA’s fundraising efforts. If you’re having a clear-out of summer items and no longer need buckets, spades, or similar toys, please consider donating them to school to help enhance playtime.

OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning)

We are approaching the time of the year when the weather gets older and wet. We now have our newly built welly shed. Please can you send in a labelled pair of wellies and ensure your child has a waterproof coat so they can continue to play outside in wet weather.  Thank you.

Parents’ Evening – Book Your Slot!

Appointments are filling up fast! If you haven’t booked yet, please make sure to secure your slot as soon as possible to avoid missing out.

They take place on Wednesday 22nd October and Thursday 23rd October. This is a valuable opportunity for you to meet with your child’s class teacher and discuss their progress.

How to Book:

Parents can sign up for a 10-minute session with the class teacher via Arbor. The booking link will go live today at 4pm.

We encourage all parents to book early to secure a convenient time. If you have any questions or need assistance with Arbor, please contact the school office.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Reading Reminders

Please ensure your child reads regularly and has their reading diary signed at least four times each week. This helps us support their progress and build strong reading habits.

If a child does not meet this expectation for two consecutive weeks, their class teacher will follow up with a phone call home. If the issue continues into a third week, then Mrs Davies or Mrs Williams will contact you to explore how we can offer further support.

Thank you for your continued partnership in your child’s learning journey.

PTFA Meeting – Everyone Welcome!

Thursday 16th October  - 9:00–10:00am at Heathfields

Parents from both schools are warmly invited to join us for our upcoming PTFA meeting. It’s a great chance to:

  • Meet the PTFA team

  • Share your ideas and talents

  • Offer support in ways that suit you — from updating social media and making posters to helping at events.

No regular commitment is required — any help is appreciated!

The PTFA raises funds that directly support our schools and create fun, family-friendly events throughout the year. Come along, get involved, and help make a difference!
