Wilnecote Weekly Update - 10th October 2025

{item_alt_tag}

Class Assemblies

This week marks the start of our class assemblies, beginning with Year 5. The children will be exploring themes of PRIDE, diversity, and British values—celebrating what makes us unique and how we come together as a community. We’re excited to see their thoughtful reflections and creativity shine through!

Learning Updates

Year 6 are going on their Geography Walk around the local area on Monday 13th October.

TTRockstar Day

To celebrate our children’s amazing progress in times tables, we’re inviting all pupils to dress up as rockstars and take part in a day full of fun, music-themed maths activities.

📅 Date: Thursday 16th October

🎤 Dress Code: Rockstar outfits – think leather jackets, sunglasses, bandanas, glitter, and guitars!

🧠 Activities: Children will enjoy a range of engaging TT Rockstars challenges and games designed to boost their times tables fluency in a fun and energetic way.

English Work Sharing

The children are excited to share their English work with you! Their books will be coming home on Thursday 16th October and should be returned by Monday 20th October. This is a wonderful opportunity for your child to talk through their learning and celebrate their progress.

Please make sure to complete the feedback form together with your child—we really value your thoughts and reflections!

First Aid

From Tuesday 14th October, we will no longer be sending paper first aid forms home with children. Instead, all first aid incidents will be recorded electronically in Arbor, our school Management Information System (MIS). At the end of each school day, you will receive a daily summary email detailing any first aid incidents involving your child.

Please be assured that we will continue to follow our First Aid Policy. Where an incident is deemed significant, we will still contact you by telephone as appropriate as well as recording the incident in Arbor. Examples of such significant incidents may include:

▪ Significant emotional distress (irrespective of any lasting injury)

▪ Severe cuts or lacerations

▪ Potential broken bones

▪ Other major injuries or incidents possibly requiring medical or dental treatment

This change will help us improve communication, reduce paper usage and ensure that such records are stored securely and efficiently. We believe this will also enable first aid incidents to be more easily monitored and, subsequently, any common causes identified, and mitigations implemented.

Thank you for your understanding and support as we implement this improvement.

PTFA Meeting – Everyone Welcome!

Thursday 16th October, 9:00–10:00 AM, Heathfields

Parents from both schools are warmly invited to join us for our upcoming PTFA meeting. It’s a great chance to:

Meet the PTFA team

Share your ideas and talents

Offer support in ways that suit you — from updating social media and making posters to helping at events

No regular commitment is required — any help is appreciated!

The PTFA raises funds that directly support our schools and create fun, family-friendly events throughout the year. Come along, get involved, and help make a difference!

Harvest

As part of our upcoming Harvest Festival celebrations next week, we are kindly asking for donations of non-perishable food items to support our local food bank and families in need.

This is a wonderful opportunity for our children to learn about generosity, community spirit, and the importance of helping others. Suggested items include:

  • Tinned vegetables, fruit, soup, and meat

  • Pasta, rice, and noodles

  • Cereal and long-life milk

  • Biscuits and snacks

  • Tea, coffee, and juice

Please send any donations in with your child by Thursday, 16th October.

Thank you for your continued support and kindness—it truly makes a difference.

Performing Arts

Help Needed: Prop-Making for Our Upcoming Performing Arts Show 🎭

The children are extremely excited to be rehearsing this year’s play- Aladdin! To enhance our show and bring it to life we are looking for a few creative volunteers to help us to make props.

We need:

  • A large, 3D, cardboard car (Rickshaw)- big enough to fit four people

  • A 2D decorator’s van with handles

  • Stalls for market traders

If you could help us with any of these at all please come and speak to either Miss Paskin or Miss Shelley- we would be so grateful for any help!

OPAL

Please don’t forget to bring in any loose parts for OPAL! We’re collecting items like buttons, bottle tops, fabric scraps, tubes, and other safe, creative materials to support outdoor play and learning. Every contribution helps spark imagination and fun—thank you for your support!

Stay Up to Date with the School Calendar!

Did you know you can now link the school calendar directly to your phone? This means you'll always have the latest information on term dates, school events, holidays, and more—right at your fingertips.

How to set it up: Just visit our school website and follow the link to sync the calendar with your device. It’s quick and easy, and ensures you never miss an important date.

If you need help setting it up, feel free to contact the school office.

Thank you for staying connected!

Parking – dropping off and collection

As part of our ongoing efforts to maintain a safe and welcoming environment for everyone in our community, we kindly ask for your cooperation regarding parking and drop-off practices.

Please do not block:

  • Pathways and pedestrian walkways

  • Driveways of neighbouring homes

  • Allocated parking spaces

  • Drive sensibly and slowly

These areas must remain accessible at all times to ensure:

  • Safe passage for children, families, and residents

  • Emergency vehicle access

  • Respect for neighbours’ property and parking rights

We understand that drop-off and pick-up times can be busy, but a few extra steps can make a big difference in keeping our community safe and considerate.

Thank you for your understanding and support in helping us maintain a respectful and accessible environment for all.
