Dear Parents and Carers,
As we come to the end of another busy and successful week at Heathfields, I would like to thank our children, staff and families for their continued enthusiasm and support. It has been wonderful to see the excellent learning taking place across the school, with so many children demonstrating resilience, curiosity and a love of learning.
Photographer in School - Wednesday 30 September
Individual school photographs will be taken throughout the school day.
Families with siblings attending other settings, such as OPOJ Nursery, Wilnecote Junior Academy or the High School, will have the opportunity to have a family photograph taken before school with their Heathfields child. Individual photographs will then be taken during the school day.
Reception Local Visit - Thursday 1 October
Reception class teachers have planned to take small groups of children on a walk around the local area throughout the day on Thursday.
This activity will be supported by our DBS-checked PTFA volunteers and forms part of the children's learning about their local community.
Lost Clothing
As we move into autumn, mornings are becoming much cooler and many children are now bringing jumpers and additional layers to school. Whilst the weather is chilly at the start of the day, temperatures often rise by lunchtime and children naturally want to remove extra clothing.
We encourage children to place their belongings in their lockers and take care of them. Unfortunately, some items are occasionally left outside, in corridors or on the playground. To help us reunite lost clothing with its owner, please ensure that all items of clothing are clearly labelled with your child's name.
Flu Vaccinations - Thursday 1 October
Children will be offered the nasal flu vaccination on Thursday 1 October, subject to parental consent.
Information was sent to parents and carers earlier this week. Please note that verbal consent or email responses cannot be accepted. Consent must be submitted using the link provided in the previous communication.
The deadline to provide consent is 11:59pm on Wednesday 30 September 2026.
Celebrations
We held our first Gold Ribbon Assembly of the year this week. It was wonderful to welcome parents into school and hear the many reasons why children had earned their Gold Ribbons. We are incredibly proud of their achievements and the positive attitudes they demonstrate each day.
Throughout the week, I have also awarded a number of Headteacher Awards. Children are invited to share their learning with a member of the Leadership Team and receive a special sticker to recognise their efforts, along with an additional sticker to wear with pride. There seems to be a recurring theme of excellent writing being celebrated, which is particularly pleasing as developing writing is one of our key priorities over the next two years.
Home reading - Congratulations to Grey Class, who achieved the highest percentage of home readers this week with an impressive 88%.
It is also fantastic to see that most classes now have 70% or more children reading at home regularly. Thank you to all parents and carers for your continued support with reading at home. Regular reading makes a significant difference to children's confidence, fluency and enjoyment of books, and your commitment is helping our children to become successful readers.
Attendance - The classes with the best attendance this week were Donaldson and Child class with 100% . Congratulations also go to the following classes for being over 96% . . . . . Ross, Ahlberg, Mckee, Murphy and Grey.

At Heathfields, we value the strong partnerships we have with our local community. We are always grateful for the support of parents, carers, volunteers and local organisations who enrich the experiences we provide for our children.
