Outdoor Learning and Play (OPAL)

OPAL so far ...

What a wonderful start to the summer term we have had. We are all enjoying our outdoor learning (staff and children).

Did you know that PLAY makes up 20% of your child's life?

That is equivalent to 231 hours per year, which is 37 days each year, which is 7.4 weeks per year!

This is equal to 1.4 years for every primary child. WOW!

We believe there is no better activity for learning and development than play.

The children at Wilnecote are embracing the changes that we have made and lunchtime is quickly becoming our favourite part of the day (especially music).

Wish List:

Throughout our OPAL journey we will be developing different areas of play. This is because there are many benefits of play: * health and wellbeing * cognition development   * physical activity & literacy * mental health * emotional wellbeing * social development * learning about risk and challenge * play as therapy * resilience and problem solving.

Our first area that we would like to develop is the Mud Cafe.
