Wilnecote Weekly Update - 14th November 2025

{item_alt_tag}

Rain, stop, play!

This week, the heavy rain has really impacted our play curriculum. Currently, only around 40% of children have outdoor shoes in school. Without the correct footwear and clothing, the children’s play offer becomes very limited.

Activities such as using the forest area for den building, the sandpit, wooded area, trim trail, and mud kitchen are not possible without suitable outdoor shoes and waterproofs.

Please ensure your child has outdoor footwear and appropriate clothing in school so they can fully enjoy these experiences, whatever the weather.

Thank you for your support in helping us provide rich play opportunities for all children.

Reading

A big thank you to all the parents who attended Mr. Kinson’s reading workshops. He was really impressed with the thoughtful questions asked and the level of engagement throughout the sessions.

We can’t wait to welcome you back in the spring term for another opportunity to experience a reading lesson in action.

Thank you for your continued support in fostering a love of reading!

Please find attached a link to our year group reading materials. These resources are designed to help foster a love of reading and improve reading for pleasure at home.

We encourage you to explore these materials with your child and make reading an enjoyable part of your daily routine.

Thank you for your continued support in promoting a positive reading culture.

Stepping Out

We are so proud of our Year 3 children this week! They were absolutely amazing during their Stepping Out sessions. The children showed great PRIDE throughout and demonstrated excellent road safety skills.

Their confidence and awareness were fantastic to see, and they should feel very proud of themselves for completing this important milestone.

Laches Wood

We are looking forward to welcoming both parents and children into school to discuss the exciting residential trip to Laches Wood.

The meeting will take place on Monday 17th November at 4:00 PM in school. This will be a great opportunity to share key information, answer any questions, and ensure everyone feels prepared for this fantastic experience.

We hope to see you there!

We have received a generous donation of various hygiene products. These will be available in the entrance hall from next week.

Please feel free to help yourself to any items you may need.

PTFA events

All children have designed a piece of Christmas artwork. These have been sent off to the company and shortly you will be sent further instructions and links should you wish for this piece of work to be produced on items such as Christmas cards, mugs and a variety of other products. For every product purchased, the PTFA will get a small donation.

The family bingo session will be held on Friday 11th December. The PTFA are asking for donations that can be turned into coloured-themed hampers.

We would like donations of the following colours on Friday 28th November:

Yera 3  – Silver/White coloured items for the silver/white hamper

Year 4 - Purple coloured items for the purple hamper

Year 5 - Green coloured items for the green hamper

Year 6 – Any coloured item for the multi-coloured hamper

Do not worry if you bring in a different colour as this can be used in the multi-coloured hamper.

If your child brings in a donation, they can come to school in non-school uniform on that day (children do not have to wear these colours).

Remembrance Day

All the children have had an assembly and studied the reasons for Remembrance Day. At 11am we all stopped work and had a minute of reflection in the classrooms.

Thank you to those parents and children that purchased a poppy.

The House Champions this week were Team Macgregor.

The class with the best attendance was class Pearce with 97.92%%.

The class with the highest number of readers was class Shakespeare with 97%.
