Heathfields Infant & Wilnecote Junior

Spring Term Y3

Spring 1

We have worked so hard during Spring 1 to develop our skills as learners even further. We have become so much more mature over the course of the term and are really fitting into our role as Juniors children.

Throughout this term, we have learnt a lot of different skills across all of our subjects. In History, we have been engrossed in our learning about the Romans with some of us even visiting Roman sites in Britain! We have developed our creativity as artists by exploring different painting skills and mediums with a focus on the artist Vygotsky. In ICT, we have developed a new set of skills on Microsoft PowerPoint and have created our own PowerPoint about the Romans to showcase the skills that we have learnt. We have loved our P.E. this term! We have been competing in tag rugby with Mr K and learning how to dance like a Roman with our class teachers. During our PSHE lessons, we have explored our dreams and goals and have designed our own purpose built garden for someone with a special educational need or disability. Through R.E. with Mrs Williams we have been focusing on the origins of Sikhism and in science we have been focusing on all things plants! We have completed a range of different experiments to explore the functions of a plant and observe the changes different conditions can cause to happen to a plant over time. We have found it so interesting!

In maths, we have been focusing on multiplication and division whilst using our new White Rose maths scheme. More recently, we have also explored units of measurement and conversions as well as the perimeter of regular  shapes. In English, we have developed our skills as writers whilst writing our own interpretation of the fairy tale- Hansel and Gretel. We have also focused on the use of direct speech when writing our own diary entries based on A Diary of a Killer Cat by Anne Fine, we are even sending our chapters to the author to see if she wants to add them to her book!
